Chelsea manager José Mourinho is set to endure a second season without any trophy on a personal level after his Chelsea team were knockout of the league title race following a 0-0 draw with Norwich city. Mourinho failed to lift any major title with Real Madrid last season. Only a few weeks ago, Chelsea were in contention for both the Premier league and Champions League. However, their season has come to an end in the space of a few days after being knocked out by Atletico Madrid in the semifinals of the Champions League.
After the 0-0 draw with Norwich, Mourinho said that he came to Chelsea not to enjoy any fairytales, but to win major trophies. He said that there are several offers for him in the summer where he could have lifted the league title with a lot of ease. PSG are thought to be one of those clubs after the recently expressed their interest in getting Mourinho in the summer. The manager, whose tactics have come under intense criticism over the last few days, says that he is confident that the club will be able to win the title next season.
This is the first time Chelsea have not won a major trophy since the 2010-11 season.
"This is the club I want and love. I had chances to have easy fairytales if I wanted to win leagues. The boys did a good job. That does not make us completely happy, but it's a base for next season. We were never outside the top four or out of the title race. At the end we didn't manage to finish and win it. We had one team that needed three points to have a chance to survive but didn't play to win,” said Mourinho.
Chelsea take on Cardiff in the final match of the season.
