MCGINN OUT OF UNITED CLASH

Scottish midfielder John McGinn is an important player at Aston Villa but he won't be available for the visit of Manchester United in the Premier League due to suspension. McGinn is suspended for the game due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

McGinn is a regular in the Aston Villa XI as part of a two-man central midfield alongside Brazil player Douglas Luiz. Zimbabwean midfielder Marvellous Nakamba would have been a perfect replacement for McGinn ahead of the Manchester United game but he's injury. The injury forced him to miss out on the Zimbabwe squad at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. In the absence of Nakamba, Morgan Sanson is likely to partner Luiz or young Ramsey could drop into central midfield from attacking midfield.

Aston Villa have been boosted by two major additions and they could make their debuts against the Red Devils. The club signed Philippe Coutinho from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona on loan earlier this week in addition to the £25m signing of French international left-back Lucas Digne from Merseyside team Everton. The two transfers were confirmed this week. In his pre-match press conference for the United game, Villa boss Steven Gerrard said that the two new signings would be part of his squad for the Premier League encounter billed for Villa Park.

On the part of Manchester United, they are also not at full strength for the game. At least they would be without three players for the Villa Park encounter. Frenchman Paul Pogba still need a month to recover from the thigh injury sustained while on France national duty in November. A return has been pencilled down for the midfielder. Apart from Pogba, the defensive duo of Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw will also miss the game due to suspension. McTominay is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a centre back, while Shaw is a left-back.
