Portuguese national team attacker Diogo Jota has moved up in the race for the Golden Boot Award in the Premier League this season after he scored one of the goals as his Liverpool side secured an impressive 4-1 win over home team Everton in their Merseyside Derby duel at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Jota scored the final goal of the game off the pass from the vibrant Andy Robertson to wrap up the big win over Everton as Liverpool claimed a first win in four league outings against the Toffees. The strike from Jota took his league tally to eight goals this season.
Liverpool made a fantastic start to the Everton game through the ninth minute left-footed strike from club captain Jordan Henderson off the assist from Scottish left-back Andy Robertson who had two assists during the game.
The JurgenKlopp-led side scored a second goal in the 19th minute through star player Mohamed Salah who capitalised on a non-existent Everton defence to slot home goal number 18 in all competitions and his 12th in the league.
Everton gave their fans something to shout about when summer signing Demarai Gray halved the deficit for the hosts in the 38th minute as Liverpool went into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Liverpool took the game away from Everton with goals from Salah and Jota in the second half.Salah was able to extend hislead at the top of the Premier League scoring chart to four goals after he netted hissecond goal of the game in the 64thminute. It took his tally to 13 goals in the league and 19 goals in all competitions.
Jota scored the fourth and final goal of the game in the last quarter to make it four goals in the last three Premier League games.
