Norwegian international striker ErlingHaaland is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world and he showed his quality when he scored the only goal of the game for Manchester City on the way to a 1-0 win over German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly clash played at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin, United States of America. Haaland scored the winner for the Premier League champions on his debut for the club at the expense of the Bavarian giants.
Haaland became a new Manchester City player after they secured his signing from German team Borussia Dortmund this summer. The Premier League champions paid the £51m release clause in his Dortmund contract to seal his signing this summer. He was battling with fitness over the past days thus making him miss the 2-1 win over Club America of Mexico in the first pre-season friendly game for the Citizens this summer. Without Haaland, Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne scored twice to give his team victory over Mexican side Club America.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola welcomed Haaland into his starting XI for the Bayern game on Saturday night and he was the recipient of the winning goal. He scored the only goal of the game on 12 minutes off the assist from England international Jack Grealish.
Guardiola and Manchester City have now won their two games in pre-season this summer with three goals scored and one goal conceded. Up next for Manchester City is the Community Shield clash with Liverpool in six days’ time. The Community Shield is the curtain raiser in English football and it's contested by the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Manchester City will begin the defence of their Premier League title at West Ham United in the first week of next season.
