Chelsea are expected to make a move for striker Radamel Falcao in the summer after he has been consistently linked with the West London outfit over the last few years. Jose Mourinho, perhaps, made the interest public after admitting that a player like Radamel Falcao needs to play at a big team.
He has condemned the decision by the player to move to Monaco by saying that this is a decision he should have taken only at the end of his career. Falcao is believed to be one of the highest-paid players in the world after completing his £ 50 million move to Monaco.
He is currently on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligaments just before the turn of the year. As a result, it has been suspected that he may miss the World Cup 2014, but recent reports from Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri appeared to suggest that the striker may play in this major tournament after all. Despite moving to the French club only six months ago, he has been continuously linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea. The interest from Chelsea appears to be growing with every passing week, as Mourinho is reportedly unhappy with his strikeforce of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o, and Demba Ba.
They have scored very few goals, but Chelsea have been able to maintain their title challenge due to goals from the midfield.
"The problem at Chelsea is that we are missing a striker. I have one in [Samuel] Eto'o but he is 32, possibly 35, who knows? I don't have Falcao but Falcao doesn't have a club. Who wants to play in front of 3,000 supporters? If I was one day to go to Monaco it would be the end. It's impossible [Ibra signing]. He is happy in Paris, I know because we are friends and we have some contact," said Mourinho.
