Gabriel Jesus Fighting for a First-Team Spot Alongside Sergio Aguero

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus claims that he will be fighting for a first-team spot with Sergio Aguero even if he has been on the losing side more often than not the season. The Brazilian forward has enjoyed an inconsistent 2018-19 campaign. Even by his own admission, the 21-year-old’s form has not been at its best after a scintillating start to his life in the Premier league since coming from Brazil – as an unknown entity in 2016. Jesus was able to come up with a remarkable seven goals in just 10 league outings but he has since scored only six over the last 23 matches.

Jesus is back on international duty with the Brazilian national team and he has admitted that the start to his life in the Premier League was almost unbelievable. However, he is now at a time when he has to fight for his first-team spot knowing that an established centre forward like Sergio Aguero is in front of him in the pecking order. Aguero has the most number of goals in Manchester City’s history and his reputation will be going in front of him. Even though Jesus is on the bench for most of the games, the Brazilian says that he will continue to fight for a starting spot.

Ajax manager confirms interest in Dusan Tadic

Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club are indeed interested in securing the signature of Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic. The Serbia international has been an influential player for the Saints over the years but he is now understood to be eyeing a return to the Eredivisie where he enjoyed fruitful spells with FC Twente and Groningen.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Ten Hag admitted that Tadic is one among the prime targets for Ajax but they are unlikely to make any announcement regarding the players until they reach a financial agreement with the Saints, he said: “It is no secret that we are interested (in signing Tadic). But I also learned that we must have signatures first before it is final. He clearly showed (against Switzerland) why he is a more than a suitable player for us. He can take Ajax by the hand. Ajax reports via the official channels when everything is complete. But as long as the signature is not set, it will not happen.”

Neymar ready to lead Brazil

Brazil will be counting on Barcelona’s star Neymar to lead them to Olympics glory. Brazil will be hoping that winning the gold medal at the Olympics will bring a stop their current footballing problems. Indeed Brazil are currently in a downward spiral after their humiliation at the last Word Cup and also defeat at the Copa America.

They will be hoping that the presence of Neymar in the team will inspire the other players and help them win a medal that has been evading them for quite some time.
