Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino fears that striker Harry Kane could be set for a similar spell on the sidelines, just as he did in the first half of the campaign.

The club sorely missed the presence of the England international back then. The inability for his replacement Vincent Janssen to come up with the goals meant that Tottenham went through a barren run of form during that period. There is a danger of the same repeating, as Kane had to go off the game against Millwall with what appeared to be a serious injury. He was seen leaving the stadium – after the 6-0 victory – in crutches.
Pochettino has confirmed that Kane will be undergoing a scan in the first few days of the week in order to assess the extent of the problem. Unless a huge size of luck, Kane could be looking at around two months on the sidelines.
This would effectively rule him out for the rest of the season. Kane has risen to the position of being the top scorer in the Premier league with 19 goals from his 22 games. He would have been ahead of Romelu Lukaku if not for the eight games that he missed in the first half of the season. Despite Kane’s unavailability against Millwall, Tottenham cruised comfortably to book their place in the semifinals of the FA Cup.
"He twisted his ankle in the same way as before, it was the same ankle he injured in the game against Sunderland. Now we have to wait, we will assess it tomorrow. It's difficult. We hope it's not a big issue but it looks a similar situation as his previous injury. We hope it's not a big issue. I'm sure it will be difficult to play against Southampton next weekend.Of course I'm sad about Harry's injury but we have to find a solution. When you lose a player like Harry you will miss him,” said Pochettino.
