Mourinho Claims Hazard Will Sign NEw Contact

Jose Mourinho has claimed that Chelsea’s star midfielder Eden Hazard will sign a new contract within one month. The Belgian international is fast becoming one of the best players in the world. Last season, he was a major source of goals and assists for the West London outfit. Despite a poor World Cup 2014, the 23-year-old is expected to play a key role in the Premier league and Champions League campaigns this season. A string of excellent performances have seen Hazard, who was signed for £ 32 million from Lille in 2012, linked with a return to France with Paris St Germain interested in him.
Chelsea revealed last season that they planned to offer Hazard a new contract, despite the player still having three years left on his deal, in order to ward off interest from PSG. Contract negotiations have been going on in the last few weeks and Mourinho has confirmed that the player is close to signing a new deal since he wants to stay at Chelsea for a long time. The 23-year-old was criticised by Mourinho last season for not contributing in the defensive area of the pitch, but he appears to have improved this part of his game as well.
The new contract is expected to see Hazard earn around £ 200,000 per week. “[Hazard] means a lot because he is a fantasic player and day by day we are feeling his motivation to work hard and improve, so we have big hopes that he will go from a top player that he is at the moment to reach higher levels and become one of the best. Obviously he’s a player that we want to keep, and, in spite of him still having a long-term contract, as young as he is it’s true that Chelsea is trying to have an agreement for a new contract,” said Mourinho.
