FOCUS QUICKLY

The Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has said that he wants the team to quickly followed to the memories of the 1-0 defeat against QPR on Wednesday night by focusing on the FA cup match against Southampton during the weekend.

Chelsea came into the match against bottom club of the Premier league confident of three point, but they were stunned when the former blue Shaun Wright Phillips managed to score in the second half to give the team an unlikely 1-0 victory against the reigning European champions. This was the first defeat that the team has suffered in the last match was, but it was enough to put them 14 points behind leaders Manchester United.

Hence, any talk of Chelsea winning the title have quickly evaporated, although Benitez was extremely adamant that the club still remain in the title race. The league table will be taking a halt for the weekend as the FA Cup third-round resumes for this season. Chelsea have been handed a tough draw for the third round because they will be facing Premier league opposition Southampton in an away match.

This match is a great opportunity to forget the memories of the 1-0 defeat against QPR according to the manager Benitez, who choose to make five changes for the QPR match.

"I haven't been worried about the league table, I've just talked about one game at a time and now it's the same situation. If you can't win your games it will be more difficult but the priority is to think about the next game and give the players the confidence that we had before. We will analyse what went wrong and try to carry on with the things that we were doing really well," said the manager ahead of the Southampton match. Chelsea remain fourth in the table as a result of the defeat.
