EVERTON MIDFIELDER OUT OF BRIGHTON CLASH

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes will sit out the upcoming league game at Brighton and Hove Albion with the hamstring injury sustained in the last Premier League outing. Andre Gomes picked up the hamstring problem during the league game at home to Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

His absence for the Brighton game at the Amex Stadium on Monday night was confirmed by Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti during his pre-match presser ahead of the game. According to the Italian tactician, the Portuguese national team player won't be involved in the game.

Gomes went off injured in the first half of the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night as the Toffees conceded a late goal to share the spoils with their London opponents. The Portuguese midfielder barely lasted for half an hour before he picked up the hamstring problem and was subsequently replaced by Icelandic international playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Everton were on course to move within two points of the final Champions League spot when Colombian international James Rodriguez gave them the lead in the first third of the second half only for them to lose the lead in the final minutes of the game.

MichyBatshuayi came off the substitutes bench to score and rescue a point for the Eagles. With the result, Everton are now five points off the last Champions League slot occupied by West Ham United though they have an outstanding game over the Hammers. A win for them in that outstanding game means they would be just two points off the London team.

Everton manager Ancelotti didn't have the best of news on Gomes but the news on both Allan and Alex Iwobi were better. Brazilian midfielder Allan and his Nigerian counterpart Iwobi missed the Palace game on Monday with respective injury issues but they are both fit for the trip to the South Coast.
