Liverpool fans are probably trying to hold on to a thread of hope that their beloved club could still go all the way and get their hands on the prestigious trophy at the end of this season, but can the Reds really secure a UCL title triumph?
While the Anfield club have not been as impressive this season as they were last season in the Premier League, they have been a better side on the European stage and have even made it to the last-8 stage of the competition. After seeing off German Bundesliga team RB Leipzig to secure their passage to the current stage of the competition, there is still some belief within the squad that they could still conjure some fine performances and go all the way.
They have been drawn against Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid and for a couple of reasons, this fixture is going to be an interesting one. First, the Los Blancos were the club that denied the Reds the chance to win a European title in Cristiano Ronaldo's last season in Spain. Liverpool fans will also not have forgotten so soon how Madrid captain and defender, Sergio Ramos brought down Egypt forward Mohamed Salah and got him injured before he was brought off and missed the rest of the game.
Madrid emerged as winners of the game after a poor showing from the then-Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius who committed a couple of blunders that gifted their Spanish rivals two goals on their way to conceding defeat after the final whistle brought the tie to an end.
Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid have also not been very impressive in the La Liga this season and are only getting back on track during ther last couple of games. With the two teams battling for consistency this season, it will be difficult to predict which team will come out on top over both ties.
