ARSENAL UNBEATEN RUN EXTENDED TO SIX

Arsenal are now on a run of six games without defeat in the Premier League after beating Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Friday. The Gunners are unbeaten in the league in almost two months following the 3-1 win over Villa as far as their latest outing is concerned.


The Gunners were able to end their poor record against Villa in the last three Premier League encounters between the two clubs. Villa had beaten their hosts in the last three matches before they met in North London this week. In the end, goals from Thomas Partey, Pierre-EmerickAubameyang and Emile Smith-Rowe gave Arsenal the three points at stake at the expense of Villa.

Partey scored the first goal of the game via a header from a Smith-Rowe corner kick at the midway point of the first half. The Ghanaian scored the opener for his first goal in an Arsenal shirt since they spent big money to secure his signature last summer.
Arsenal skipper Aubameyang scored the second goal for the North Londoners aftercentre referee Craig Pawson awarded a penalty via VAR after Villa left-back Matt Targett brought down Alexandre Lacazettein the box. Gabonese striker Aubameyang found the back of the net from the rebound after he had his penalty saved by ex-Arsenal shot stopper Emiliano Martinez. The Gunnerssold Argentine international Martinez to Villa at the start of last season.
Goals from Partey and Aubameyang gave the Gunners a two-goal lead at the break. Smith-Rowe extended the Arsenal advantage with a third goal eleven (11) minutes after restart off the assist from Aubameyang as the Gunnersfinished off a counterattack. Villa pulled one back late in the game through substitute Jacob Ramsey, but the destination of the points had already been decided at that point.
Arsenal are now unbeaten in six Premier League games since the defeat at Manchester City at the end of August.
